Zoo by JohnRauch Zoo by JohnRauch
I've been waiting a loooooong time to be able to post this. Drawn by the impeccable Andy MacDonald, colored by me. The version that printed also had a cage in front of the big guy, but I prefer it without, so that's what I posted.

Man, there is some killer technique going on here.

I'm going to have to pick your brain one of these days. You do a couple things I just can't nail down.

Wonderful work! I absolutely love how you integrate the textures right in the brush tip. A few words for a great meaning.

BTW, I'd love to buy a print of this, I made a request :)

This image epitomizes the internal focus and narrative drive of Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
With the addition of a few flecks of green in the irises, it's the film's iconic and archetypal poster.
A subtle star field in the dark periphery opens the mind of the viewer to an adventure in prehistory
like a key to religious mystery. It's an intriguing (origin-prequel) film that dovetails extremely-neatly with this spectacular painting.
